Uterine Cancer Symptoms

Uterine cancer occurs when a tumor develops in the uterus, an organ in a woman's pelvis. Like all cancers, it is most treatable when caught early. Take the time to familiarize yourself with some of the main uterine cancer symptoms so that you can notify your physician if you notice them.

Typical uterine cancer symptoms

The most common uterine cancer symptoms are vaginal discharge and bleeding which occurs between menstrual periods or after menopause. Any bleeding that happens at any time other than during your menstrual period should be discussed with a physician. Many women have vaginal discharge that is not associated with uterine cancer; however, an increased amount of discharge may be a symptom of cancer. An abnormal amount of discharge should be looked at by a physician promptly.

Pelvic pressure

Many women with uterine cancer also have pelvic pressure and pain as a symptom. Since pelvic pressure is not unusual in women, at first you may not consider it a notable problem. However, if the pressure occurs in conjunction with other symptoms, or lasts a long time, you should notify your doctor.

Taking precautions

In general, you can display some of these symptoms without their being a sign of cancer. However, it is always better to rule uterine cancer out early rather than run the risk of letting a tumor grow because the symptoms seemed minor. Most of the symptoms of uterine cancer will last for over two weeks, which should signal that there is an issue.

While uterine cancer symptoms can seem minor, you should be aware of them in order to be able to seek advice and treatment early. Then your doctor can perform a simple biopsy or ultrasound to confirm a uterine cancer diagnosis or rule it out.
