Mucositis

Mucositis remains a challenging side effect of cancer therapy. Studies have not found the best agent to use to combat this side effect. ⁷ Since we have not been able to find a treatment that prevents mucositis, treatment focuses mostly on decreasing the problems when they occur.

Professional groups have conducted what are known as comprehensive reviews to examine closely the research data on mucositis. You may examine those reviews if you would like. See special section later in this material.
