Mucositis How often mucositis occurs is not well known. This is because health care providers have not used a consistent way to measure and record this side effect. Many cancer treatment protocols do not cause mucositis. Other protocols such as some of the high dose treatments for blood and marrow stem cell transplant frequently cause mucositis. In addition, people who receive radiation and chemotherapy for head and neck cancer almost always develop problems with mucositis. |
