Depression Risk Factors for Depression
You are at increased risk for depression if you have any of the following risk factors:
History:
- Personal or family diagnosis of depression
- Past suicide attempt
- Drug or alcohol abuse
Type of Malignancy:
Metabolic (BODY FUNCTIONING) Abnormality:
- High calcium levels
- Anemia
- Nutritional deficiencies
- Adrenal Gland Problems
- Thyroid Problems
- Sodium or potassium imbalance
Symptom Distress:
- Uncontrolled pain
- Multiple symptom burden
Drugs:
- Chemotherapy (i.e., vincristine, vinblastine, L'asparaginase, procarbazine,
intrathecal methotrexate)
- Biologics (i.e., interferon, interleukin)
- Barbituates
- Opioids
- Steroids
- Antihypertensives (i.e., beta-blockers)
- Hormonal agents (i.e., tamoxifen)
- Anticonvulsants
- Amphotericin
- Hypoglycemics
- Antiparkinsonian drugs
- Psychotropics (i.e., phenothiazines, benzodiazepines, lithium carbonate)
